Quick look around the league on the eve of the draft

The Columbus Dispatch reports that Guillermo Barros Schelotto has agreed to a new contract with the Crew. Shawn Mitchell writes:

Details of player contracts are kept confidential by MLS, but sources said Schelotto’s new deal is for one season with a team option for 2011.

Dan Rasmussen of the Deseret News writes about defending MLS champion Real Salt Lake looking to add depth to its roster through the draft.
Rasmussen says a striker and backup goalkeeper are RSL’s top needs.
Ives Galarcep from Soccer by Ives offers his predictions for the draft. Here’s his pick for the Sounders:
11. Seattle Sounders — Jack McInerney, Forward, U.S. U-17

The Sounders could use depth at forward and will need to choose between McInerney and Cal striker Andrew Wiedeman. With Wiedeman disappointing at the combine, look for coach Sigi Schmid to grab a 17-year-old striker who looked very comfortable playing against older players at the combine.

Soccer America’s mock draft has Seattle choosing Andre Akpan of Harvard with its first pick.
