Throw-ins from around Major League Soccer

Sorry for all the links and notes all the time, but I wanted to keep the blog updated while the team is overseas and access is limited.
Be assured, more focused coverage on the team will be in full storm once training comes back to town. I’m as excited to learn about the guys as you are.
— In Sounders FC related news, general manager Adrian Hanauer and technical director Chris Henderson joined the team in Spain having concluded their scouting in Argentina and Uruguay. Also, Taylor Graham got a hold of a video camera on the team’s travel day, here’s the result. Lastly, the powers that be are on top of potential security concerns when Portland and the Timbers Army come into town.
— Now to clips around the country, here’s a writer that warns of MLS teams spending themselves into trouble. Another says the league would benefit if it “loosens the purse strings.”
— On some league-wide personnel moves: here’s another take on the ex-EPL player Paul Dickov potentially joining Toronto FC, Kansas City has signed Danish goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen (a starter? very possibly) and FC Dallas coach Schellas Hyndman explains why the team cut Aziz Ansah, who has played with the Ghanaian national team.
— ESPN soccer writer Jeff Carlisle asks if Houston Dynamo DP Luis Landin is a bust.
— In some big-issue stories, Chivas USA might be forced to change its name and brand. Sadly, the K.C. stadium might be lowering capacity again. RSL was the last team to start training, doing so last week, but the players and coaches are happy with it.
— For some USMNT news, the team will play Turkey (which is looking like it will be coached by ex-Chelsea and ex-Russia coach Guus Hiddink) for a final warm-up before the World Cup. More W.C. tickets are going to be available for U.S. fans. Finally, Clarence Goodson has been called into camp for the El Salvador friendly.
— And I won’t get into the Champions League games yesterday — Manchester United beat AC Milan 3-2 in a great game and Lyon held serve against Real Madrid 1-0 — but you have to check out the game-winning goal by Lyon’s Jean Makoun.
