Gonzaga’s Tye Perdido making the most of his invite

I caught up with invitee Tye Perdido after training on Wednesday to see how things are going. The physical forward has certainly done well so far to impress the coaches and extend his time with the team for as long as possible.
The 6-foot-1 Hawaiian is not hard to find out on the pitch either with some impressive hair.

(What’s your training schedule like for this week?)
I’m going to be here for just this week. I’m on spring break so I was able to get out for this week. I’ll probably be back in school for the next two months just until I graduate and then hopefully be back here training.
(It’s an obvious question, but how has the experience of training with the Sounders FC been?)
It’s intense. It’s really amazing just to see the level of play and the level where all these guys are at to see where I can aspire to and work as hard as I can to get to that level. Being here on the field playing with all of the guys is a great experience, and a huge blessing.

(How have you gotten better these last couple weeks?)
I think my speed of play is starting to pick up as I get used to playing with the guys. My touch is getting better. I think other than that the experience of playing with these guys will help out in the long run.
(How has the reality of training with a pro team lived up to your expectations?)
This has definitely surpassed the expectations I had. I didn’t expect to be this far with the team. I came in and thought it was just a tryout and then all of a sudden I’m coming back to the team on a week-to-week and hanging out with the guys, getting to know all them, being treated as if I’m on the team. I’m hoping one day I’ll be able to get a contract and put on that green jersey and step on the pitch for the first time.
