Player ratings — Portland Timbers 1, Seattle Sounders FC 0

Time for the second edition of my postgame player ratings (first edition after Vancouver game here). Again, these are just my opinion of the players’ impact on the game. I’m sure the coaches will have their own, more detailed, evaluations of the guys, but this is how I saw it.
I will say, I wouldn’t be bothered too much by the scoreline if you’re a Sounders FC fan. The team had 15 shots and looked so much better with the ball then against the Whitecaps. Significant improvement.
STARTERS
GK Kasey Keller (90′) — Unbothered for the most part. Couldn’t be asked to do much on the goal. 5
D/M Brad Evans (90′) — A standout performance. Made an impact everywhere on the field. 7.5
D Tyrone Marshall (off 46′) — Allowed Portland to get behind him on the breakaway goal. 4.5
D Jhon Kennedy Hurtado (90′) — Like rest of the defense, didn’t have to do much in the back. 5
D Leo Gonzalez (off 80′) — Dangerous on the wing at times, but wasn’t too involved. 5.5
M Kevin Souter (off 60′) — High-motor kid showed well in surprising start. Very active. 6
M Peter Vagenas (off 74′) — My man of the match. Thought he really controlled the action. 8
M Osvaldo Alonso (90′) — Maybe not at his best, but helped Seattle own the middle. 6
M Steve Zakuani (off 67′) — Frustrating night. Missed a good chance and wasn’t in rhythm at times. 4.5
F Freddie Ljungberg (off 46′) — Struggled to get on same page and link some passes. 5
F Fredy Montero (90′) — Took seven shots but only the last one was dangerous. Disappointing. 4
SUBS
D Jeff Parke (on 46′) — Looked very comfortable all over the field. Played a couple positions. 6
M Roger Levesque (on 46′) — Fairly involved, but Seattle fans hoped for more from Timbers killer. 5
M David Estrada (on 60′) — Thought he had some great passes. A positive night for the rookie. 6
D Patrick Ianni (on 67′) — Didn’t need to make much of an impact on a slow night. INC
M Stephen King (on 74′) — Also didn’t really get to see much of his night. INC
D Tyson Wahl (on 80′) — Won’t judge someone for just 10 minutes. INC
COACH
Sigi Schmid — I felt the offense made tremendous improvement. Won’t judge personnel moves in a preseason game, but deserves credit for the step up from the Vancouver debacle. 7
Again, please offer your thoughts and ratings, perhaps you saw something I didn’t. If you disagree with something I won’t be offended.
