Q: Now that you are roster compliant, was it difficult under such short notice? What were these last few days like.
A: They were busy, but they weren’t particularly busy with new work. We kind of had anticipated how this was all going to come down, without knowing the exact ‘I’ dotting and ‘T’ crossing we had to do. Not until the CBA agreement was put in motion could we finish the administrative stuff that had already been in the works. Roster compliance was a busy time, but it wasn’t crisis-filled or dramatic.
Q: Fucito and Estrada signings today, what does the team like in those two players?
Fucito has, since he came in last year, done a great job. He’s worked his tail off and continued to impress. He has great speed. If he’s not the fastest one on the team, he’s one of the top three. He strikes the ball with left foot and is one of few left-footed players, so he brings an element we don’t have. If he continues to improve, he’ll have the opportunity to contribute this year.
Obviously as our first-round draft pick we showed how much we valued him and wanted to sign him. He’s a young player, very good technically, but he needs more time to work into system. Sigi can find where he can help us most.
Again, these were deals were ones that we had been working on. This wasn’t a mad scramble to get these done today. It was just a matter of sending out the formal announcement.
