New England’s Kenny Mansally wins MLS Player of the Week

New England Revolution Forward Kenny Mansally Named MLS Player of the Week
Second half substitute strikes twice to give Revolution first road win
NEW YORK (Monday, April 5, 2010) – New England Revolution forward Kenny Mansally was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 2 of the 2010 MLS season. Mansally, a second half substitute, scored twice in a two-minute span to lift the Revolution to a 2-0 road win over D.C. United on Saturday, April 3 at RFK Stadium.
Mansally entered the match in the 68th minute and provided an offensive spark that led to the Revolution’s first win of the 2010 season. In the 80th minute, Mansally played a ball from the midfield up to Chris Tierney, who carried the ball to the left corner. Tierney’s cross, sent towards the near post, was deflected and fell to Mansally who blasted a shot into the top of the net.
Just two minutes later, Mansally eluded the D.C. United defense and from outside the box, unleashed a curling, left-footed shot that landed in the far corner.
Saturday night’s two goal effort was the first multi-goal game of Mansally’s MLS career.
This is Mansally’s first career Player of the Week award.
The MLS Player of the Week is selected each week of the regular season by a panel of journalists from NASR. The group consists of members of print, television, radio and online media. More information and membership information can be found at http://www.soccerreporters.com/.
