FINAL: Sounders FC 2, Real Salt Lake 2 — live thread

Final: GOAL RSL. Final score 2-2. Saborio on a header from a corner kick.
90′: Four minutes of stoppage time. Hold onto your hat.
90′: RSL pressing. But Seattle’s holding them off. Barely.
82′: Seattle’s second goal now ruled an own goal by RSL.
80′: Great run by Alonso on the counterattack, but Ljungberg can’t find him. Later Saborio has an open header in front of Seattle’s goal, but can’t finish.
78′: A couple subs. RSL’s Saborio on for Findley. For Seattle Levesque on for Zakuani.
74′: Sturgis on for Montero. Defensive sub with the lead.
73′: GOAL SEATTLE! Tyrone Marshall with a header off a Freddie Ljungberg free kick that redirects into the goal. Gives Seattle a 2-1 lead.
69′: Attendance 19,970. I’ll try to update as much as possible, but writing duties will take over a bit.
66′: Both teams playing a bit conservatively now, but RSL still in control of the run of play. Seattle on its heels.
60′: It will be interesting to see what Sigi’s next move is later on. Defensive-minded with Vagenas/Sturgis. Or going for the win with Fucito.
54′: Looks like that was Evans man who escaped his mark and won the header. No pressure on the cross either. Not surprising RSL got on the board.
53′: GOAL RSL! Will Johnson runs free past Evans and dives to head in a cross into the box from Russell.
51′: Wahl put to work early. Makes a great tackle on a dangerous run by Gonzalez. Riley clears the corner kick again.
48′: Tyson Wahl coming in for Gonzalez. Not sure what the story is there.
46′: We’re underway in the second half. RSL’s Nelson Gonzalez in for Grabavoy.
Halftime: RSL had a 5-2 shot advantage and 5-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Halftime: Sounders stunned the crowd in the 11th minute with a breakaway goal by Steve Zakuani against the run of play. RSL probably deserves at least a tie at the break, but Seattle knows all about missed chances and will give little sympathy.
I’m going to get to writing duties for the rest of the stoppage.
45+1′: There will be two minutes of stoppage time. Hurtado with another poor play in the back. Surely his worst game of the year, but Marshall bails him out, surely his best game of the year.
45′: Very strong tackle by Alonso. He has definitely picked it up.
41′: Score should probably be 1-1 right now, RSL unlucky to be losing. But maybe Seattle is due a lead it hasn’t wholly deserved. I’m going to move some of the running commentary to a jump page to avoid some clutter.
39′: Morales out with a right groin strain.
38′: I would say Seattle has controlled the last 10-15 minutes pretty well.

37”: Good combo work from Alonso, Gonzalez and Zakuani sets up a cross by Leo, but it’s headed away. Perhaps the best linking of passes by Seattle so far.
35′: Looks like Andy Williams will be coming in for Morales, who’s hobbling around. Didn’t see the hit/injury, but he’ll be a big loss.
31′: Alonso with another bad giveaway. Then Marshall follows up with a bad foul. Sets up a dangerous free kick for Morales from about 30 yards. Blocked by the wall.
28′: Another corner kick for RSL. I have them with three and Seattle with zero. It’s cleared well by James Riley though.
27′: Noonan is working very hard out there. Definitely putting work in defensively.
25′: Zakuani’s goal might be the only time he touched the ball. Evans also needs to get more involved. Seattle needs to hold onto the ball better.
22′: Keller with another big play. Snuffs out a dangerous low cross. He’s had to be very active so far, but he’s been up to it.
21′: RSL Will Johnson put in on goal, but Keller with the save! Maybe his best of the year.
20′: Montero takes a shot on goal from distance that is saved, but gave Rimando trouble. On the other end, Javier Morales spins Alonso around like a top and crosses to Findley in front of the goal, who heads it wide.
19′: Things have definitely settled down now. It’s becoming more back and forth.
16′: Marshall has been Seattle’s best defender today so far. Hurtado a little shaky, has given up a pair of corner kicks.
12′: Talk about a goal against the run of play. RSL had probably outshot Seattle 3-0 to that point with a couple more dangerous opportunities. RSL defense forgets all about Zakuani and Montero plays a wonderful pass to direct him on goal. A cool finish by Zakuani 1v1 with Rimando.
11′: GOAL SEATTLE! Steve Zakuani gets played on goal by Montero and finishes the breakaway!
10′: Sounders FC very lucky not to be down a goal right now.
8′: Seattle has been out-everything’d so far in this one. Not sure Steve Zakuani has even touched the ball. They can’t hold onto it.
5′: Poor stuff from Seattle leads to another turnover and a pass ahead to Beckerman, but Keller snuffs it out. Very unorganized start for the visitors.
4′:
———————–Keller————————
Riley——Hurtado——-Marshall—-Gonzalez
————Evans——–Alonso——————
Ljungberg——————————–Zakuani
————–Noonan————Montero———
Noonan, Montero and Ljungberg are rotating a lot. FYI.
3′: Very shaky passing from Seattle (Leo and Evans) leads to a turnover and a breakaway chance for Findley. But his shot from a poor angle is weak and saved by Keller.
1′: And we’re off. Looks like Noonan is up front. Ljungberg on the right.
Pregame: RSL is in all red uniforms (I think, I’m colorblind). Seattle wearing green shirts, green shorts and blue socks.
Pregame: The fireworks have gone off. The MLS Cup trophy is in the building. We’re about ready to go.
Pregame: I’ll be doing a live thread on the game this time instead of a live chat. I’m having some connectivity issues here, so hopefully this works OK.
