Sigi Schmid quotes after Thursday’s training (via release)

Sigi Schmid – Head Coach

(On matchup with Colorado Rapids . . .) “Obviously Omar Cummings is a forward who can cause teams problems because of his speed and his pace and he’s also quick. Sometimes guys are fast but they’re not quick. He has got a little bit of all that. Conor Casey is a hardworking, big target guy. So you have got to be aware of him as well. Pablo Mastroeni and [Jeff] Larentowicz both have good shots from distances so you have got to be aware of that. [Mehdi]Ballouchy is a little bit more hot and cold but he’s a player that, when he is on, he can certainly put together some good combinations and he is dangerous on set pieces as well. I think we have to be aware of all that.”

(On Sounders FC offense . . .) “Obviously last night was a little bit of that where we got there three goals. But we felt that if we could get one, the other ones would come after that. There’s enough offensive talent but we got to do the business in the box. We have got to finish our chances. We have got to follow-up when there are rebounds available. Ugly goals count just as much as nice goals.”

(On Colorado Rapids, continued . . .) “I wish we would have the number of penalty kicks they’ve had. I think they’ve had two or three penalties. If we could have had those two or three penalties it would have helped us a little bit, too. But they are dangerous. They are a somewhat direct team and they are pretty dangerous because of the people they have up front. They are at home. They are going to want to get the result at home. We have shown we are a good road team. We have got to do that again.”
