During my one-on-one chat with Sounders FC goalkeeper and captain Kasey Keller after the Colorado game, the longtime veteran revealed a Rapids’ fan — if you can call him/her a fan — poured beer on him during the game.
Here’s what he had to say:
* * *
“I’m a little disappointed though, I’ve played all over the world and this is the first time I’ve had a beer thrown on me in a game. So I’m just wondering… I know what would happen in Europe if that happened. I know that fan would be banned for life and there would be sanctions. I’m just wondering what (MLS commissioner) Don Garber is going to do about it, because that s*** shouldn’t be allowed in this league.”
(He continued semi-jokingly) “I’d have no problem talking to the ECS (Emerald City Supporters) guys, I’m sure they’d love to throw s*** on people.”
(I added that Freddie Ljungberg had a bottle thrown at him in Toronto…) “It’s a problem that they need to address. And they need to address it sooner rather than later.”
