FINAL: Sounders FC 0, Colorado Rapids 1, game thread

Final: Colorado holds on for the 1-0 win. Seattle has won just once in its last seven games.

90+’: Three minutes of stoppage time to be had.

89′: Not much longer in this one. Amarikwa in for Cummings for Colorado.

83′: Levesque on for Noonan, who just drew a dangerous free kick outside the box. Ljungberg curls it wide and high.

80′: Up and down stuff now. Sounders are chasing the game desperately.

76′: Montano in for Montero, hmmmm….

75′: Keller with another save. This time on a Cummings shot.

73′: Ballouchy gets through, but Keller is there for the save.

68′: Dangerous back pass from Colorado intercepted by Montero. His shot goes over.

66′: NO CALL! A Colorado defender (Marvell Wynne) appeared to knock the ball down with his hands in the box. Sigi can’t believe there was no call. Also, Nyassi is in for Zakuani.

63′: GOAL COLORADO. Conor Casey shrugs off a challenge from Jeff Parke, chips the ball over Keller and a couple defenders from the right side.

61′: Baudet goes down. Appeared to be no contact. Montero looks to the Colorad bench and calls for a sub. Maybe he saw something. Could be serious.

58′: Zakuani with a great run down the left flank. Shoots! Deflected out for a corner kick.

56′: Colin Clark appears to be checking in for Colorado. In in the 60th minute for Wells Thompson.

52′: Ianni booked for a hard foul on Ballouchy. Ljungberg also booked for dissent, it appears. Just a matter of time before one of those right…

50′: Montero fires wide with the left foot. In a pretty even game, the right substitute could make all the difference. Who could it be?

48′: Mastroeni goes down. Argues. Goes down again. Weird sequence there.

46′: Don’t see any subs out there for either team.

Halftime: Scoreless here at DSG. Colorado probably had the better of the half and the more dangerous chances. Seattle saw a lot of the ball and also had its opportunities, maybe not as many.

Cummings looks very strong on the right. I’m a little surprised the Rapids didn’t get one in, considering that 10-15 minute stretch of dominance.

Time to get to writing duties. Updates in the second half will be a bit more sparse.

45+’: Zakuani springs Ljungberg on a breakaway, but Wynne flies back to pressure the shot, which goes over the bar.

45′: One minute of stoppage time coming. Leo blatantly takes down Cummings and is booked.

44′: Cummings abuses Leo, but Ianni is there to clean up. On the other end, Montero can’t control and cross and it goes out for a goal kick.

41′: Parke authoritatively clears a CK. The first time Seattle has done that on a set piece.

40′: Seattle….. Sounders…. I hear the faint cheer in the corner of the stadium.

38′: SAVE! Ianni blisters a shot that bounces right in front of Pickens, but he parries it wide. Good stuff from both sides there.

37′: Seattle still under siege… Conceding another corner kick, but Baudet header goes over the bar…

35′: Colorado in attack mode. Evans has to clear a cross over his own goal. Zakuani doesn’t appear to be 100% at all.

34′: Wynne frees Cummings down the right. Marshall slides in with a great tackle on the cross. Later Riley slides and has a clean tackle at the corner of the box. Critical stuff there.

33′: Nice crowd here. Good atmosphere.

30′: Great buildup for Colorado, but Parke shield Mastroeni off the ball and it goes out for a corner. Parke is down, however, and getting treatment. Ianni slides back in the CD role, but Parke looks OK.

28′: Ljungberg called offside after some nice buildup. I’d like to see that one again…

26′: Riley heads out a Cummings cross for a corner kick. Rapids connect again on the CK! But Baudet strong header goes wide.

24′: Zakuani down again after a foul. He’ll have some bruises tomorrow for sure.

23′: Sounders seeing a lot of the ball, but are getting frustrated with each other. Lots of missed passes.

19′: Montero and Ljungberg just miss hooking up again. Down the field Ljungberg goes down hard. Play slows a bit, but Freddie is back up.

18′: Cummings very active on the right. Might be a long day for Leo.

15′: Great buildup by the Sounders results in a Noonan header over the bar. Parke played a long ball to Montero, who cleverly found Ljungberg, who chipped it across just a bit too high.

13′: Colorado in something like this.

————–Pickens————-

Wynne–Baudet–Moor–Earls

—-Mastroeni–Larentowicz—-

————Ballouchy————-
Cummings————Thompson
————–Casey—————-

10′: Zakuani comes off now. While he gets looked at, Nyassi and Montano are back up. But again Steve is playing it out.

9′: Riley is playing pretty far up. In the back there, Parke slips trying to cover Casey, but Evans recovers to clear it out for a corner. On the CK, Keller makes a great save on a Cummings header.

8′: Marshall with another clearance, he’s been strong so far.

6′: MISS! Omar Cummings with a low, hard cross. Conor Casey connects well but sends it wide. Plays been a bit even so far, Rapids chances have been more dangerous though.

4′: Seattle’s formation almost looks like a 4-2-3-1.

—————Keller—————-

Riley-Parke-Marhsall-Gonzalez

———-Ianni–Evans————-

Noonan—Ljungberg—Zakuani

————-Montero—————

2′: Zakuani goes down hard, grabs his hip. Montano and Nyassi start warming up, but Steve is up and shaking it off.

1′: Montero earns an early free kick. Noonan heads it across the goal, but no one is there.

1′: And we’re off!

Pregame: Very windy still out here. We’ll see if it impacts the game. Sounders are in the green-green-blue road uniforms. Colorado in a red-white-red, though I think they call it burgundy.

Pregame: The lineups have been announced, the crowd is filling up. It’s just about time for the march out. Colorado has three mascots it appears, an eagle and a fox and a buffalo? There’s a raccoon here too!
