My “I’m hardly an expert” World Cup predictions — Group H

GROUP H

Chile — One of the bigger surprise teams in qualification. I’ve picked them as my sleeper team.

Honduras — Long shot made the big show thanks to a late header from USMNT’s Johnny Bornstein.

Spain — One of the favorites in the field and my pick to win it all. Bursting at the seams with talent.

Switzerland — Sounders fans’ adopted team due to incoming Blaise Nkufo. Could contend for second.

Player to watch: Xavi Hernandez, Spain (one of my favorite players, impeccable passer)

Big game: Chile v. Switzerland, June 21, 7 a.m. PT (expected to the contend for the No. 2 berth)

Prediction: Expect Spain to roll through this one — did you see the second goal in that friendly against Poland? Not many teams can do that in training. I like Chile to earn the second berth due to the injury worries and recent struggles of the Swiss. I’m sure most of the Sounders also want Nkufo in town ASAP.

1. Spain 9 pts.

2. Chile 4 pts.

3. Switzerland 2 pts.

4. Honduras 1 pt.
