With a 4-1 win over the Kitsap Pumas on Tuesday night, the Portland Timbers have advanced to the third round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Timbers host your Seattle Sounders FC in a knockout game next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at PGE Park.
Seattle as you know currently holds the trophy after last year’s run, which featured a stop in Portland and was capped by a 2-1 win in D.C.
The Timbers, however, had the upper hand in a preseason exhibition at Qwest Field back in March with a 1-0 victory.
I’ll obviously be making the trip down for this one. Who else is excited for the next chapter in this rivalry?
