So here’s how it shaped up, with the top two teams advancing to the knockout stage/round of 16 and the bottom two teams eliminated:
1. Spain 2-1-0, 6 pts. (4 goals scored, 2 goals allowed, +2 GD)
2. Chile 2-1-0, 6 pts. (3 goals scored, 2 goals allowed, +1 GD)
3. Switzerland 1-1-1, 4 pts. (1 goal scored, 1 goal allowed, 0 GD)
4. Honduras 0-2-1, 1 pt. (0 goals scored, 3 goals allowed, -3 GD)
What I got right
— The order of finish again. Pat, pat.
— Chile. At full strength looked just as good as Spain. I still think my sleeper pick could take down Brazil in the knockout stage.
What I got wrong
— Spain. Yes they won the group. But they’d hardly looked the part of a tournament favorite for now. There’s still time though.
— Spain will play Portugal (the runner-up in Group G) at 11:30 a.m. PT on Tuesday
— Chile will play Brazil (the winner of Group G) at 11:30 a.m. PT on Monday
