“I’m hardly an expert” World Cup predictions — quarterfinals

As bad as my picks have been, three of my four semifinalists are still kicking. So here’s hoping this next round of games makes me look less like a non-expert (if that makes sense).

Though I think it’s more fun when predictions go awry, anyways…

Netherlands over Brazil — I picked the Oranje to make the final, so I have to stick with that one. Though the way Dunga’s side has played, I’m not super confident in it. Either way, should be a fun one.

Uruguay over Ghana — Two teams I didn’t even pick to advance out of the group — hardly an expect, I know — appear to be fairly evenly matched. Forlan and Suarez are the difference here. PKs maybe?

Argentina over Germany — Another incredible match-up worthy of a final, should be wildly entertaining. This is the stage I think Leo Messi will shine bright and prove he’s the best player in the world.

Spain over Paraguay — My pre-tournament pick to win it all is definitely getting better with each game. With Xavi and Iniesta as the engine in the attack, it’s hard to discount La Furia Roja ever, especially in this one.
