As Sounders FC celebrates its third-straight MLS win, and second in a row on the road, so too do I celebrate turning 25 years old and thus avoiding rental-car surcharges for the rest of my life.
The team takes off for El Salvador today for Tuesday’s second leg against Isidro Metapan in the preliminary round of the CONCACAF Champions League. It appears as though young midfielder Miguel Montano won’t be making the trip (he’s on my flight back to Seattle and the rest of the team is heading straight to El Salvador from here).
The Sounders won’t be back in action in Seattle until Friday, giving them two days to prepare for a home game Sunday against Houston. We’ll see if they’ve added six more games to the schedule by qualifying for the CCL group stage.
Just 12 games ago, Sounders FC was in last place in the Western Conference. Now the team is one of the hottest in MLS and we should be in store for a wild August.
