FINAL: Sounders FC 2, Houston Dynamo 0, game thread

Final: Sounders FC 2, Houston Dynamo 0. Three more points for surging Seattle. Another goal and assist for the red hot Fredy Montero.

90′: Three minutes of stoppage time.

88′: GOAL SEATTLE! Fernandez on the breakaway, great pass from Montero. It’s 2-0 Sounders FC

87′: Jaqua on for Nkufo.

85′: Mike Seamons subs in for Nyassi.

79′: Long shot by Sturgis saved by Hall.

76′: The speedy Oduro in for Cruz.

70′: Sturgis booked.

69′: Fernandez in for Zakuani. Home debut for the new DP.

64′: GOAL SEATTLE! Keller launches a kick up field, Montero holds off the defender as it bounces toward the Houston penalty box and fires a low shot past Hall

61′: SAVE! Hall with a great diving stop on a long-distance shot by Alonso.

59′: Bookings to Dynamo’s Chabala and Mullan. Writing duties starting to take over with the late start. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments section.

58′: Mullan and Cameron come in for Davis and Ashe go out for Houston.

57′: Cruz to Ngwenya for the goal is called back rightly for offside.

50′: Sounders FC has been in control for a while, going back deep into the first half. Meanwhile, Ianni has a strong challenge to clear a dangerous Dynamo cross. Nkufo booked, I’ll admit I didn’t see what it was for (I’m informed that it was for a late challenge that the ref had allowed to play on).

47′: SAVE! Montero plays Zakuani through on a breakaway! But the shot is saved by Hall! Huge moment there and Seattle should be up 1-0.

46′: And we’re off in the second half. Which impacts subs are you looking for? What’s the countdown until Fernandez comes on?

Halftime: Some numbers. Seattle up 5-2 on shots, 3-0 on goal. Houston with 9 fouls to the Sounders’ 6. Each team with 5 corner kicks.

Halftime: Both teams had some moments. Seattle definitely tested Hall, who has been up to it so far. Houston dangerous moments have come on crosses, not so much on shots.

45′: One minute of stoppage time. Nyassi with some good work on the right, but his cross is cleared. There are certainly some goals to be had in this one I think.

41′: The ball is starting to stay on Houston’s side of the field fairly consistently.

37′: SAVE! Zakuani tees up Nkufo, but his low drive is stopped by Hall.

36′: Nyassi from a difficult angle, fires a shot that’s saved by Hall. So far the Gig Harbor product has done his job.

32′: Now Riley booked for showing his cleats in a dangerous challenge.

31′: Gonzalez fouls Cruz, but the Houston midfielder made a lot of it. The ensuing free kick bounces out for a goal kick.

28′: Weird stuff here. Looked like Robinson was fouled late by Nyassi. Center mid didn’t see it and play went on. After Leo kicks the ball out so Robinson can get checked out, the fourth official tells the center ref to book Nyassi.

Now Nyassi comes off the field. Looks like he’s bleeding.

25′: Montero with some space, makes some moves. Eventually fires a hard shot that Hall parries wide.

23′: Team effort to clear a corner after it glances off Keller’s fingertips in traffic. Davis swings in another dangerous CK, but it’s cleared again. Dynamo has had its chances.

21′: Nyassi and Zakuani get caught on the same said of the field. Montero does well to help out defensively.

18′: Riley knocks over Ching to win a ball in the air. How about that?

16′: Some dangerous stuff from Houston. Chabala swings in a good cross, that’s cleared. Then Ching with a shot from the top of the box goes over.

Moments later Nkufo with some space in the box, makes a move but tries to chip a defender and Hall grabs it.

15′: Zakuani with an incredible move to lose Cruz, but his cross is deflected out for a corner. Sturgis’ effort is cleared.

14′: SAVE! Very dangerous bouncing shot to the corner pushed out by Hall.

13′: Davis with a hard foul on Nkufo. Sets up a Seattle free kick from 30-32 yards away. Montero lines it up.

12′: Nkufo chatting with the ref after the big Sounders looked to be unfairly pushed off the ball with no whistle.

9′: Chabala, a former UW Husky, takes out Sturgis and is whistled for the foul.

8′: Great burst from Nyassi on the right. Great touch to the endline. Final touch wasn’t good. Weak cross to the middle (too late?) is cleared.

7′: Gonzalez beat on the left. Ianni with a saving tackle.

4′: Montero finds Nyassi on the right flank, but his cross is cleared. Riley follows up with another good service, but it’s cleared too. The first good stuff from the Sounders though.

3′: More dangerous stuff from a Houston corner, but Seattle survives it.

2′: Nervous moment between Riley and Keller on a clearance, but the defender kicks it out.

1′: And we’re off! Sounders with a familiar lineup and a familiar formation I’m sure.

Seattle will be in something like this.

Pregame: Brian Ching and Kasey Keller take care of the coin toss. We’re moments from kickoff.

Pregame: The reserves walk out first. Mike Seamon in a green top, I guess I was wrong about the blues. Seattle in green-blue-green, the tradition home combo. Houston in white-orange-white on the road.

Pregame: Majority owner Joe Roth is in the building, helping hand out the golden scarf. We’re about ready for the walkout.

Pregame: I’ve posted the lineups below. We still have about 40 minutes until kickoff.

Houston in bright-orange warmups. Seattle in mainly black, but some have blue shorts on. I’ve gone on the record for predicting the Sounders will be in blue tops today, but we’ll see. I’m often wrong…
