FINAL: Sounders FC 0, Real Salt Lake 0, game thread

FINAL: Sounders FC 0-0 Real Salt Lake. Not much in this one sadly. Not many chances. Not much to write about. More to come later.

90′: Four minutes of stoppage time.

89′: RSL sub: Findley off, Campos in.

88′: Fucito one-timer in the box is dangerous, deflects out for a corner. Good service by Alonso, but it’s cleared.

85′: Seattle sub: Mike Seamon in for Sturgis.

74′: Seattle sub: Nyassi on for Fernandez.

70′: Seattle sub: Fucito on for Jaqua.

67′: Wicked volley by Alonso goes just over the crossbar. Crowd liked that effort.

66′: Dangerous cross by Flaco grabbed by Reynish.

65′: RSL sub. Johnson on for Gonzalez, who stayed down after being dispossessed by Alonso moments earlier. As such, he’s booed.

64′: Shot by Montero well over the bar.

61′: Keller dives to his left to make a comfortable save on a shot from distance by Andy Williams.

55′: Saborio booked for a hard foul on Alonso from behind.

53′: Zakuani takes on three defenders, beats them with speed, but his last touch is too long and he loses it.

51′: MISS! Findley set up well by Williams, but his open shot is over the bar. Might’ve been the second-best chance of the game.

50′: Heavy touch by Alonso in the attacking third. Missed chance there.

46′: And we’re off in the second half. Updates will be less frequent due to a brutal deadline tonight. 8 p.m. kickoffs on weekdays are not a reporter’s best friend.

Halftime: Some stats…

Shots: SEA 5, RSL 3

Shots on goal: SEA 1, RSL 1

Fouls: SEA 5, RSL 9

Offsides: SEA 1, RSL 1

Corner kicks: SEA 3, RSL 2

Saves: SEA 1, RSL 1

Halftime: That 3-3 prediction is in big trouble now. Obviously the big moment was the PK save by Keller. Seattle has had the better of the play, but not very many clear-cut chances. The home side started to test Reynish at the end, but I would’ve like to see more. Either way, it’s all to be played for in the second half. Stats to come.

45′: One minute stoppage time.

41′: Finally Reynish is tested, but Alonso’s shot from 35-some yards is saved comfortably. One minute later, Alonso tries again from distance, but it’s wide.

39′: Jaqua the target on another corner kick, but he can’t get to it.

37′: More good attacking stuff from Seattle. Salt Lake ‘keeper Reynish still hasn’t been called upon yet.

34′: Fernandez taken out from behind in the RSL box. No call.

31′: PENALTY. For Salt Lake, Parke stumbles while defending Findley on a 1v1. The Salt Lake forward runs over his extended leg and gets the call. SAVE! Findley takes an awful shot slightly to the left of center and Keller blocks it.

26′: Not looking good for my 3-3 prediction…

23′: Pace settling down. I’m surprised Seattle hasn’t really tested this backup goalkeeper. All attempts have been off target.

17′: Alonso combines with Jaqua well, but his cross is blocked out for a corner. On the CK, Jaqua almost gets to it. Moments later, Jaqua is hammered by Schuler — not really surprised.

14′: Jaqua very active in this one. On the other end, Findley almost got behind the defense for a breakaway (he was offside).

13′: Scott takes a knock on a scramble with Beckerman, Sounders FC play on but Montero’s cross is too close to the goal and Reynish grabs it.

11′: First chance here for Salt Lake on a free kick after Alonso fouls Morales. Gonzalez takes it but RSL is called for offside.

8′: More good stuff from Sounders FC. Zakuani with a good run but can’t pick out a target to cross to. Later, Sturgis swings in a free kick, but it’s over everyone in the box.

7′: Fernandez with a good touch on the right wing, gets hammered. Advantage played and Jaqua gets an open shot, but it’s well wide and almost goes out for the throw in.

5′: Good combo work from Jaqua and Fernandez. The pass out wide is a bit off to Zakuani and nothing much comes of it.

3′: Couple good attacking moments early for Seattle. With RSL a bit shorthanded, there’s no reason the home team shouldn’t get all three points.

2′: Sounders FC in a formation something like this:

1′: And we’re off! Sounders FC attacking the south goal. Seems weird, is that a first this year? Normally they’re going north.

Pregame: Belated Golden Scarf celebration to AYSO founder and ex-GM of the NASL Sounders, Hans Stierle.

Pregame: Here’s the walkout. Kickoff in a few minutes. Seattle in the familiar green-blue-green combo at home. Salt Lake in all red. Or burgundy or maroon, whatever you want to call it. I’m not good with colors.

Pregame: Late-arriving crowd here on this late weeknight. A showing every other team in the league would be jealous of, however.

Pregame: We’re about a half hour from kickoff here. Zach Scott and Nate Jaqua are in the starting lineup (as posted below) filling in for a couple injured starters. Interesting to see Nick Rimando not starting for RSL in goal. Word is he tweaked his Achilles recently.
