Sounders FC training Saturday at Starfire — photo reel

After taking a day off Friday, Sounders FC was back in action on the training pitch Saturday at Starfire. The guys won’t be home for a while due to a torturous schedule — first it’s off to Costa Rica and then to Columbus, Ohio, immediately after.

There was one player missing from training as Alvaro Fernandez has gone home to Uruguay as a new father. He’ll join the team in San Jose on Monday. Invitee goalkeeper Chris Eylander was also around (I don’t recall seeing him much recently).

The starters from Thursday did a lot of regeneration work this morning. The rest of the squad did a lot of scrimmage work, including an intense 5v5 session at the end.

Let’s get to the shots:

* * *

1. James Riley, nursing an ankle knock, found another way to get some fitness work in.

2. Nate Jaqua shows off the reach here. Pat Noonan the resident trainer and cut man.

3. Nathan Sturgis gets in a stretch. Lot of minutes and miles coming up for Sounders FC.
