Finally back home. After a wild two weeks of travel, the Sounders returned to Seattle on Sunday and this time they’re here to stay for a while. The unpredictable weather welcomed them in training as it was overcast to start, then sunny in spots, followed by an unexpected monsoon before clearing up at the end.
The starters from Saturday’s 1-0 win in Chicago did a lot of regeneration work on the side. Blaise Nkufo got a personal day off to spend with his family in Vancouver, B.C. Midfielder Brad Evans was active in practice, serving as a neutral in scrimmage work but training in full during the rest of the drills. It appeared as though everyone was good physically but Hurtado.
If I gathered things correctly, some Adidas folk were also on hand. They had a new shoe and a new ball they wanted to see in action, so the team helped out in that regard. Not sure what the verdict was. Kitsap coach/Sounders analyst Pete Fewing preferred the shoe to the ball, that’s all I know.
Photos were restricted to the final minutes, so coupled with the monsoon I was only able to get one shot. As you can see above, the guys constructed more official-looking “nets” for that soccer/tennis/volleyball activity that they love so much. You seriously can’t pry those guys away from that game.
