There were a few new additions at Sounders FC training today. Not new players. Just new soccer balls — some pink Jabulanis to be more specific that will be used in Saturday’s game against Toronto FC. I didn’t get any photos of the new balls, but you can scroll down the blog to see one.
One of the leading questions coming into the day was the status of Mike Fucito’s ankle. Coach Sigi Schmid said x-rays were negative so it’s a matter of how it responds to treatment. No reason to think he won’t be back within a couple weeks. After surgery in Colorado, Pat Noonan is scheduled to rejoin the team on Saturday.
The starters from Wednesday’s 2-0 win against Marathon had a light training today, mainly regeneration work. The others did some regular scrimmage work and other drills. The emergency pool ‘keeper was not around yet, but he’s expected soon.
Here are some of the shots from today:
* * *
1. The hero of Wednesday’s game takes it easy. He was walking around and looked OK.
2. “Keep away” is always the game of choice during regeneration days.
3. General manager Adrian Hanauer scopes the scene. Has to like what he’s seen of late.
4. The first-teamers scrimmage here. Should be fresh Saturday thanks to the reserves.
