Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid quotes from Friday

This was a rare time that I was the only reporter at Sounders training. Here’s the full transcript of the short Q&A I had with Schmid before running to the airport for the flight to Kansas City…

* * *

(On fans being able to secure playoff seats, do you know anything about that?) “No, I know we still have to secure that spot. I try to never get ahead of myself.”

(On Mike Fucito’s recovery from the ankle sprain) “He’ll actually travel with us. He will be on the 18.”

(On Nate Jaqua and Alvaro Fernandez struggling to get in the lineup) “There is definitely competition but it’s a situation where the team is going well so generally you try not to change that around too much. Nyassi is having a good run. Zakuani is going well. It’s working the way it’s working right now so it’s a little tougher to get in there. But, for sure, those two guys are excellent players and they are going to contribute as we go forward. You never know when an injury comes. You never know when you need to change something.”

(On Kansas City BBQ preference) “I don’t know, I think (Bill) Clinton went to a place called (Arthur) Bryant’s. That’s supposed to be good. They cure the stuff in the window. I actually went there once and it’s good. Kansas City is also good for blues and a little bit of jazz if you like that.”
