Major League Soccer power rankings — week thirty

1. (1) Real Salt Lake 15-4-10

Are there any MVP candidates on this team? Morales and Saborio could be the leading picks.

2. (3) L.A. Galaxy 17-7-5

Despite the rollercoaster year, could clinch the Supporters’ Shield with a win in final week.

3. (2) FC Dallas 12-3-14

Unbeaten streak ended with a thud in Salt Lake City. Still needs to fight off Seattle for third.

4. (5) Seattle Sounders FC 14-9-6

Five straight MLS wins is a franchise record for a club that has a different hero each week.

5. (4) New York Red Bulls 14-9-6

Holy imbalance. Eastern Conference leaders would barely crack the top 4 in the loaded West.

6. (6) Columbus Crew 13-8-8

GK Will Hesmer scored the unlikeliest of stoppage-time equalizers to save his team in Toronto.

7. (8) Colorado Rapids 12-8-9

M Omar Cummings (goal, assist) came up big in a playoff-clinching road win in Los Angeles.

8. (7) San Jose Earthquakes 12-9-7

Jon Busch on head injury: “I’m already married and already ugly so it doesn’t really matter.”

9. (9) Kansas City Wizards 10-13-6

First, postseason dreams dashed. Now, incoming DP Omar Bravo having second thoughts.

10. (11) New England Revolution 9-15-5

Sealed eight-team playoff field with 1-0 defeat of Kansas City — its first shutout in 11 games.

11. (10) Chicago Fire 8-12-9

Sent off American legend Brian McBride last weekend. The all-time great forward is retiring.

12. (13) Toronto FC 8-13-8

BMO Field closing up shop in league play until the MLS Cup final. But who will be there?

13. (14) Philadelphia Union 8-14-7

Could end its expansion season with back-to-back wins over East leaders N.Y. and Columbus.

14. (15) Houston Dynamo 8-15-6

GK Deric shut out San Jose in his debut. He’ll face a different beast in red-hot Sounders.

15. (12) Chivas USA 8-16-4

Is the clock ticking on first-year coach Martin Vasquez? He hasn’t elicited much confidence.

16. (16) D.C. United 6-19-4

Will the team (19 goals) outscore L.A. forward Edson Buddle (17) this season? Could be close.
