Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid quotes on Wednesday

(On backup goalkeeper situation) “Boss is definitely out for this weekend so we’re going to need to bring in a league goalkeeper or do something there. We are working on that right now. We think if he lays low for a week or so we think he will be OK. But we are not 100-percent sure.”

(On Nate Jaqua and Mike Fucito filling in for the suspended Montero) “It wasn’t necessarily their best games. They will be the first ones to tell you that. But certainly I think we have good options. Nate is a good option. Fucito is a good option. Which way I am going to go right now I’m not quite sure. It might be a situation where they each get some playing time since both of them played close to 90 minutes last night. So we will just have to see. We will make that decision as we get closer to game time.”

(On health status of Montero) “Montero can’t play this weekend anyway so we are probably showing a little bit more precaution. He would be playing this weekend if it was a playoff game. He would be able to play.”

(On determining who will start between Jaqua/Fucito) “Obviously Jaqua used to play for the club so I think he is highly motivated to go there and play. From that standpoint, he maybe has a little bit of an edge. But also it’s a field that’s a little bit smaller say than our surface. The atmosphere there is good. You always want to play when you get a chance to go against your ex-club.”

(On going back to where the season ended last year) “We know our season’s not ending there this year. That’s the good thing. There’s nothing that carries over. Our minds are focused on having a good rhythm coming out of that game, making sure that we get ready for the playoffs, come out with no injuries, no red cards and move ourselves forward into the playoffs, whoever that opponent might be, and getting focused on that
