MLS team consults with fans and will pay for a game in 2011 season-ticket packages — sound familiar?

When the Sounders FC ownership group was awarded an MLS franchise, Toronto FC was a great team to learn from. Recently the roles have switched, it seems, as the Canadian club has come under fire for disappointments on the field (missing the playoffs in all four seasons) and off (trying to raise season-ticket prices again despite the underachieving product).

On Friday, TFC responded to the uproar and issued a letter via its website to its season-ticket holders. A couple things that resonated to me:

  • The team and fans recently had some productive Town Hall meetings. Hmmmm, sounds a lot like the regular discussions Sounders FC executives have with the Alliance Council.
  • Toronto FC will also credit fans one game toward next year’s season-ticket packages. Remind you of something that happened here in May?

Ultimately I think Toronto is doing the right things on all accounts, but what do you think of the moves and the similarities…?
