I had a quick moment to catch up with one of Seattle’s designated players after training today. Here’s the transcript of that conversation.
* * *
(You didn’t get to play L.A. this season, does that change anything for you?) “First of all, it’s just a game. Of course it’s a playoff game, but you have to deal with the now. Whatever has been done in the past is over. You have to look forward and just be focused on Sunday. We play at home, with our fans, I think both teams have the chance to go to the next stage.”
(The increased intensity of training is clearly visible from the outside. Is it to the players?) “Yes, of course. We’re starting to build the pressure. That’s good, but you have to stay relaxed. If you think too much about the game, that’s not good. We are a good team with good players, if we play with quality, as a team and stick together I think we can make a good result at home.”
(How important has it been for you to play the same XI week in and week out?) “It’s good for confidence, but we can’t forget about the other players because they’ve showed some skills and helped the team to win too. Of course, every coach wants to put the same lineup out there.”
(How have you been dealing with the rain, wind and cold?) “Not so good weather. (laughs) But it doesn’t matter.”
