MLS playoff bracket updated, FC Dallas and New York win

mlsbracket.jpgSaturday featured two more exciting MLS playoff games in the first round. First FC Dallas came back from an early deficit to beat Real Salt Lake 2-1 behind an 88th-minute wonder goal by Eric Avila, who just substituted into the game moments earlier.

Perhaps bigger than the loss for RSL — which isn’t a condemnable result — was a red card to star midfielder Javier Morales, who is now suspended for the return leg. The defending champs will still be confident they can get a win at home, however. On the other side, Dallas forward Atiba Harris was also sent off with a straight red and will miss the next leg.

Elsewhere in the Eastern Conference, played humorously in San Jose, New York got a 1-0 road win against the Earthquakes behind a fabulous goal by midfielder Joel Lindpere. The Red Bulls are an good shape to advance, but maybe S.J.’s Chris Wondolowski has something special in store for the second leg.

Great stuff in the playoffs so far. We’ll see what we get tomorrow…
