Sounders FC v. L.A. Galaxy, pregame notes and lineups

hdc playoff.JPGWelcome to the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. It’s overcast, windy and humid, which might feel like home for Sounders FC. No rain yet, thankfully.

So here we are at potentially the last game of the season. This is the chance for Seattle to elevate itself to an elite team in Major League Soccer — we’ll see how they respond. All the other conference semifinals have been exciting this week and I don’t expect anything different in this one.

Like Sigi Schmid told us earlier in the week, quoting a former player: One-nothing is nothing.

Whether Sounders FC can finally break through in the playoffs is another matter. The second-year franchise is the first in league history to be shut out in its first three postseason matches. The streak of 300 goalless minutes is approaching Colorado’s all-time playoff record. L.A. won’t make things easy on that front, likely employing a disciplined, defensive-minded strategy similar to that in the first leg.

There are expected to be 400-500 Seattle fans here tonight. Maybe that will help push them over the top. Lineups posted below:

Sounders FC starting lineup: GK Kasey Keller, D James Riley, D Tyrone Marshall, D Patrick Ianni, D Leo Gonzalez, M Osvaldo Alonso, M Nathan Sturgis, M Sanna Nyassi, M Steve Zakuani, F Fredy Montero, F Blaise Nkufo

Sounders FC reserves: GK Terry Boss, D Taylor Graham, D Tyson Wahl, M Alvaro Fernandez, M/F Mike Fucito, M/F Roger Levesque, F Nate Jaqua

L.A. Galaxy starting lineup: GK Donovan Ricketts, D Sean Franklin, D Omar Gonzalez, D A.J. DeLaGarza, D Eddie Lewis, M Dema Kovalenko, M Juninho, M David Beckham, M Landon Donovan, F Mike Magee, F Edson Buddle

L.A. Galaxy reserves: GK Josh Saunders, D Gregg Berhalter, D Alex Cazumba, D Todd Dunivant, M Chris Birchall, F Tristan Bowen, F Jovan Kirovski
