FIFA website lists USMNT-Argentina friendly on March 26

fifausaargentina.jpgUpdate 12:34 p.m. — I just got off the phone with a U.S. Soccer spokesman who pointed me to the fine print on the FIFA website, which was cropped out of the photo. It reads:

“FIFA’s information does not stem solely from official information from the associations or confederations, but also from third parties (media, private individuals). FIFA can therefore not vouch for the accuracy of the data in every case (especially regarding friendly matches). However we make it our duty to constantly verify unofficial data.”

So this report is no more official than it was a week ago and there’s no announcement yet.

The first report of an international friendly between the U.S. men’s national team and Argentina at Qwest Field on March 26 came earlier this month, but no confirmation was ever given. I noticed a tweet by Tim Booth of the Associated Press this afternoon that said the game was in fact listed on the FIFA website.

Take a look for yourself. I have messages out trying to confirm this.
