AP report: USMNT-Argentina international friendly likely going to the New Meadowlands Stadium

A few days ago a Washington Post report tipped us off that Seattle was no longer in contention for an international friendly between the U.S. men’s national team and Argentina. Earlier speculation was that Qwest Field would land the March 26 game.

Today an AP report says the match is likely going to New Jersey, to be played at the New Meadowlands Stadium:

NEW YORK (AP) — A person familiar with the negotiations tells The Associated Press the March 26 exhibition game between Argentina and the United States will likely be held at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.

The Argentina Football Association had announced that the exhibition would be played at Seattle, but the sides have decided on the Meadowlands and are in the late stages of negotiating a contract, the person said.

Apparently the negotiations aren’t compete. There is also no sign of an official announcement, just more signs that Seattle is surely out of luck for this one.
