Seattle Pacific’s Mark Collings to coach MLS combine team

collings.jpgIn case you missed it when the MLS combine rosters were revealed, Seattle Pacific University’s Mark Collings was listed as head coach of the Jabulani team. Games start Saturday at Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

“It’s a great honor to be selected as one of the combine coaches,” Collings said in a school release. “I’m looking forward to being a part of such a special weekend for all of these young men as they take their next step towards a professional career.”

Collings, in his third year with the Division II program, most recently led the Falcons to a 10-6-2 record and was named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Coach of the Year. Back in 1998, Collings played on SPU’s Final Four team.

At the combine Collings will be assisted by Brian Quinn of the University of San Diego. The Jabulani team roster is highlighted by Akron defender Kofi Sarkodie, who will likely by a top-five pick.
