POLL: What do you think about a Cascadia rivalry week?

Amid the draft-day action last week came some interesting news that could potentially affect Sounders FC down the line. As a few of you have probably seen by now, Steve Goff of the Washington Post talked to MLS commissioner Don Garber about the possibility of a Cascadia Cup round-robin week. Here’s the note from the Insider:

Commissioner Don Garber said the league is seriously considering a Pacific Northwest jamboree of sorts by scheduling regular season matches between the Seattle Sounders, Portland Timbers and Vancouver Whitecaps in a span of a week or so (For example, Seattle at Portland, Vancouver at Seattle, Portland at Vancouver).

Goff noted this likely wouldn’t happen until the 2012 season. Obviously this would be a way to showcase the northwest action on the national scale. Several fans across the country are anxious to see what happens with the rivalry up here and you’d think some prime-time games on ESPN would be in line. The hoopla would also surely catch the eye of non-soccer fans in the area.

Some local fans are less excited about the idea, however, wanting to space out the Cascadia Cup action throughout the year. A midweek game or two would make it more difficult to travel as well.

I think it could be fun, but what do you think about the idea? Be sure to offer your thoughts in the comments section.
