Supplemental draft pick Sean Morris training in Montreal

UPDATE: There are no plans to bring Morris back to Sounders FC camp after this tryout. Sounds like the door will be open for him to train here if he wants, but it appears as though the team is moving on.

I noticed this story a little bit ago. The Montreal Impact is apparently holding a week-long invitational tryout this week and the player pictured in the article is none other than Sounders FC supplemental draft pick Sean Morris.

I asked the team about it and they said Morris — a Bothell native from Seattle U. — had planned this trip before being drafted. He goes with the Sounders’ blessing, but I’m yet to hear back if he’s expected to return to Seattle.

“We thought that was a good opportunity for him because we thought it might be difficult for him to catch on with the midfielders that we have right now,” coach Sigi Schmid told SoundersFC.com.

Montreal, as most of you know, is joining MLS in 2012.
