Sounders FC training Friday at the VMAC — notes and photos

Today was speed-test day for Sounders FC at the VMAC and some guys were flying from what I saw. Here is your top five: 1) Steve Zakuani, 2) O’Brian White, 3) Edouard Kabamba (invitee), 4) Osvaldo Alonso and 5) Miguel Montano.

Mike Fucito came in as the defending “champ” but it didn’t look like he was pushing himself quite at 100-percent, so I wouldn’t be so concerned to not see him up there. Some guys that looked strong, even if not in the top five, were Jhon Kennedy Hurtado and Brad Evans — a good sign for both of them.

After the sprints, the teams did a couple drills before getting into some 11v11 work. The teams look somewhat like this, a few tweaks were made in the process so this is maybe not 100-percent accurate, but close:

Green (first string?): GK Kasey Keller, RB James Riley, CB Jeff Parke, CB Patrick Ianni, LB Leo Gonzalez, RM Alvaro Fernandez, CM Brad Evans, CM Osvaldo Alonso, LM Steve Zakuani, F Fredy Montero, F Blaise Nkufo

Orange: GK Terry Boss, RB Zach Scott, CB Tyson Wahl, CB Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, LB Danny Earls, RM Edouard Kabamba, CM Erik Friberg, CM Servando Carrasco, LM Miguel Montano, F Mike Fucito, F O’Brian White

Gray: GK Josh Ford/Brian Meredith, RB Corey Attaway, CB Leone Cruz, CB Cole Peverley (invitee), LB Michael Tetteh, RM Seedy Bah (invitee), CM Mike Seamon, CM Alex Caskey/Jonathan Prieto (invitee), LM Roger Levesque, F Lamar Neagle, F David Estrada

Great goals today by Zakuani, Kabamba (who suffered a bit of a hamstring knock at the end) and White — the last one set up by a Carrasco shot off the crossbar. Evans and Friberg were running around like crazy in the middle. You would have liked to see some more offense, but let’s get to some shots:

3. Michael Tetteh here. The team measured times at 10 meters, 30 meters and 20 meters on the fly.

4. In some down-time, Blaise Nkufo juggles and passes around with Patrick Ianni.

5. On the far end of the field, Kasey Keller watches Terry Boss dive to attempt a save.

6. Brian Schmetzer and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado pass the ball about.

7. After sprinting the guys played some keep-away. Always a classic.

8. Miguel Montano and Mike Seamon juggle back and forth, while on the turf. Not bad.
