VIDEO: Time for a little showboatting, and some other links

This weekly “Showboat” clip from SkySport’s Soccer AM is a regular feature in my links posts, but far too often it’s pushed to the end. I think it deserves higher placement sometimes.

Like this time.

Enjoy! And more links after the jump…

Sounders FC/local

— Our good friend Jose Romero offered a practice report for Monday, down on the scene at Grande Sports World.

— Here’s a look at the Sounders FC academy from the league website.

— The absentee Julien Baudet has picked up a trial with Celtic in Scotland, which considering the sagas of Freddie Ljungberg and Dwayne De Rosario is developing quite the interesting relationship with MLS.

— Be sure to check out the open tryouts for SeaWolves FC.

Northwest rivals

— Portland has surpassed 11,000 season tickets and will cap ’em at 12K. And forward Bright Dike, who scored against Seattle in the Open Cup last year, has suffered an Achilles injury.

— Vancouver has offered an update on BC Place renovations. Done by Sept. 30, they say.

MLS happenings and more

— The Special One, Jose Mourinho, said he’d like to coach in MLS one days, but says maybe 10-15 years down the road. He specifically mentions New York and Los Angeles.

— New England is apparently set to sign French midfielder Ousmane Dabo, formerly of Lazio. Also, the Red Bulls are reportedly tracking German forward Miroslav Klose.

— Here is an updated allocation order after the two expansion teams found their guys. This would allow D.C. United to sign Charlie Davies without a fuss.

— Also, some World Cup updates. FIFA president Sepp Blatter says it will be played in the summer and each game will be in Qatar (some had urged the tournament to be moved to the winter, with neighboring countries potentially helping).

— Oh and don’t miss this wrongly disallowed goal. Worst call ever.
