UPDATE: Florida trip concludes with camp roster at 34

UPDATE (Sunday 2:21 p.m.): Sounders FC has confirmed that unsigned rookie defender Leone Cruz is no longer with the team. That puts the camp roster at 34, at least according to what we know now.

The training games are over. As are the preseason trips around the country. For most of the 35 34 players in Sounders FC camp, the cases to make the team have been made.

The group comes back to Seattle on Sunday but won’t train again until Wednesday, which is after the March 1 roster compliance deadline Tuesday. Here’s how things stand personnel-wise:

Goalkeepers (4): Terry Boss, Josh Ford^, Kasey Keller, Bryan Meredith^

Defenders (13 12): Leone Cruz^, Danny Earls, Leo Gonzalez, Taylor Graham, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, Patrick Ianni, Richard Martinez*, Jeff Parke, James Riley, Zach Scott, Michael Tetteh, Tyson Wahl, Roger Levesque

Midfielders (12): Osvaldo Alonso, Servando Carrasco^, David Estrada, Brad Evans, Alvaro Fernandez, Erik Friberg, Mike Fucito, Miguel Montano, Jonathan Prieto*, Michael Seamon, Steve Zakuani, The Trialist* (joined camp Thursday, hasn’t been named by the club)

Forwards (6): Nate Jaqua, Fredy Montero, Lamar Neagle*, Blaise Nkufo, Pat Noonan, O’Brian White

^ — unsigned draft pick (Tetteh is signed), * — invitee

Earlier, coach Sigi Schmid said the preliminary plan is to have the initial roster at 28. So the simple math says seven of the guys will be getting some bad news. This doesn’t mean they necessarily have to leave the team though — some unsigned guys stuck around training last year (see: Jeff Parke, 2010). Not to mention, roster spots No. 29 and 30 would be vacant.

Currently, if I understand things correctly, eight players are unsigned: three rookies (Carrasco, Cruz, Ford, Meredith) and four invitees (Martinez, Neagle, Prieto, Trialist). Expect to see a few of them signed in the next couple days.

The other 27 players are signed, so expect to see a few more of them released.

So who’s making your initial Sounders FC roster?
