VIDEO: Getting to know trialist Mauro Rosales a little bit

Ah, the beauty of the internet age. Sounders FC adds a trialist + just perform a simple online search and poof! A highlight video.

Hopefully this is actually Mauro Rosales in the clip. If so, you can get to know a little bit about the 30-year-old Argentine fighting to make the team.

Here are some other local links I enjoyed, with more after the jump:

— An All-Cascadia XI? Brilliant. Former Seattle mayor Greg Nickels with a Q&A on MLSsoccer.com? How about that? He was excited about the Cascadia rivalry coming back this year.

Maybe he’d be interested in the package we ran on the Portland Timbers in Wednesday’s paper. With Sounders FC training out of town, I sneaked down south to check in on Timbers camp for a few days. Here’s the main bar with their take on the rivalry and wanting to compete in Year 1.

I also wrote a sidebar on Darlington Nagbe. While the stories might not be breaking news to MLS savvy readers, a lot of casual soccer fans have wanted to get more into the sport and the rivalry — hopefully the Portland stories (and the ones Thursday about Vancouver) can help in that regard.

The Cascadia Summit, we know, is just a couple days away…

— In other Cascadia news, Portland traded for K.C. midfielder Jack Jewsbury. Good move, in my opinion. Also, it sounds like Tom Soehn from the Whitecaps FC front office is off trying to find some forwards. Another good idea.

— Here’s a link I meant to post the other day and was reminded about: New York fired a pair of assistant coaches recently. Seattle travels to play the Red Bulls four days after the season opener.

— Elsewhere around MLS, Real Salt Lake got past Columbus in the CCL quarterfinal, D.C. United is closer to turning to Pat Onstad in goal, Shalrie Joseph wasn’t happy about everything surrounding his arrest and JP Dellacamera (who calls Philadelphia Union games) is apparently leaving ESPN for FSC.

— Oh, here’s a report saying the SuperLiga is taking a year off. And here’s a list of the players available in Wednesday’s waiver draft (which Seattle is unlikely to take part).

— Internationally, Chelsea’s title hopes are probably over but a 2-1 win over Manchester United will make things interesting. Also, be sure to check out this story on Jose Mourinho by SI’s Grant Wahl.
