Sounders FC training Thursday: belated photo reel

A handful of afternoon/evening commitments kept me from getting to this post yesterday, but I figured some people still might gain something from the content despite the tardiness. In anticipation of the Cascadia Summit the team trained in the Starfire Stadium on Thursday, not on the practice fields.

We got a little sun and a couple breaks of blue skies, but it was pretty windy, cold and rainy again. Thank goodness for the covered bleachers. Oh and USWNT legend Julie Foudy was around, I believe to chat with retiring Kasey Keller for an ESPN feature.

Training started with some fitness work and small-side 6v3 games. Later the group broke into an 11v11 scrimmage, which appeared to match the starting lineup against the back-ups. There was some set-piece practice as well at the end, but I’m sure you’re more interested in the lineups:

Starting XI? GK Kasey Keller, RB James Riley, CB Jeff Parke, CB Jhon Kennedy Hurtado, LB Leo Gonzalez, RM Alvaro Fernandez, CDM Osvaldo Alonso, CM Brad Evans, LM Steve Zakuani, F Fredy Montero, F Blaise Nkufo

Second XI? GK Terry Boss, RB Zach Scott, CB Taylor Graham, CB Patrick Ianni, LB Tyson Wahl, RM Pat Noonan, CDM Servando Carrasco, CM Erik Friberg, LM Michael Tetteh, F Mike Fucito, F O’Brian White

1. Welcome to Starfire Stadium. I can’t wait to see what it looks like later tonight…

3. The group comes together with a roster the same as yesterday. No surprises.

4. The big guy Nate Jaqua looks pretty sharp out there as he works to get back in shape.

5. Asst. coach Brian Schmetzer takes a look at the youngsters (and Roger) in action.

6. Free kick practice is pretty common for the end of training. Nkufo was taking some.

7. There’s Foudy in the flesh, chatting with former USMNTer Chris Henderson (Seattle’s technical director). Matt Gaschk scored an interview with her. Look for that.

8. I believe that’s the ESPN camera crew on the spot, getting Keller footage.
