Roster moves closer to completion as Meredith leaves camp

meredith mug.jpgOne of the more intriguing roster camp battles was settled Wednesday when Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid said rookie Josh Ford had won the job as the third goalkeeper — see more in the posts below. Fellow rookie Bryan Meredith (pictured), who came in and remains with high regard, is no longer with the team.

I count 30 players still in camp. We’ll wait for the official announcement before we list Ford as signed. Miguel Montano is unsigned. Pat Noonan and Mauro Rosales also have somewhat unresolved situations.

With Mike Fucito out 3-6 weeks, he remains an IR possibility as well, which would open a roster spot if Schmid is still committed to carrying 28.
