Sounders FC training Sunday at Qwest Field — photo reel

For the first time this season, practice was closed. Lots of national media folk were around (ESPN.com, MLSsoccer.com) and I guess the team wanted to keep things secretive. Who knows? Maybe some Galaxy spies were hiding around the Qwest Field hallways trying to sneak a peak at formations. Generally access is limited the two days leading into a game, but closing the doors is rare. It will happen tomorrow too, so just a heads up.

Once the hounds (err… reporters) were let loose, the team was doing some finishing drills. Other guys were working on things around the field, but I don’t really have much to report on.

Steve Zakuani was out there running around and looked pretty good. I didn’t see Brad Evans in the final drills, but that isn’t to say he was active for the first 80% of training. Sounds like both are improving and appear to be in the mix to play Tuesday.

Here are some pics:

* * *

1. The finishers wait in the middle for service. The scoring has looked sharp recently.

2. Fredy Montero was the star Wednesday. Think he’ll score for the third-straight opener?

3. James Riley was navigating through cones and swinging in crosses.

4. Noonan in the foreground. I think that’s Rosales talking to Schmid in the background.

5. Miguel Montano and David Estrada in action on this one.

6. Academy product Ryan Herman (he’s 6-foot-8) was on hand today.
