FINAL: Sounders FC 0, L.A. Galaxy 1, game thread

Final. L.A. Galaxy 1, Sounders FC 0. A disappointing start to say the least for the Seattle. Blame the finishing.

90′: Three minutes of stoppage time. Yellow card to Beckham.

87′: Montano offside as he hits it into the side netting.

84′: SAVE! Saunders pushes a dipping shot by Montero wide. Here’s a sub: Montano on, Zakuani off.

79′: Seattle sub: Lamar Neagle for O’Brian White. Also one for L.A., Kirovski on for Barrett.

76′: L.A. sub: Michael Stephens on for Mike Magee.

72′: MISS! Zakuani sets up White on the doorstep, inches wide!

65′: POST! Donovan on the breakaway rattled the woodwork.

63′: Seattle sub: Roger Levesque on for Alvaro Fernandez.

61′: MISS! Alonso with an open shot from 18 yards. Just high.

58′: GOAL L.A.! Juninho with a blast from 25 yards that Keller gets a hand on but can’t keep out. 1-0 Galaxy.

55′: Saunders is all over the place. Clearly the man of the match, for me.

52′: I have several stories to work on here, so blogging will be sporadic I’m afraid.

46′: We’re off in the second half! No changes.

Halftime: Some stats. Shots (Seattle 7-4), Shots on goal (Seattle 5-0), Fouls (8-8), Offsides (1-1), Corner kicks (LA 3-1), Saves (LA 5-0).

Halftime. Sounders FC 0, L.A. Galaxy 0. Beckham’s free kick inches over the crossbar just before the whistle. Good stuff from both teams, but Seattle controlled more of it I thought.

44′: Fans confused here. Friberg’s shot looks like it’s in, but it’s just wide.

42′: Friberg looks good out there. White could do better. Just had a wide open shot from 20 yards he hit right at Saunders.

36′: Good run by Franklin, but Keller anticipates the cross well.

32′: Montero with an apparent chance on the corner, but his shot is blocked at the far post. Check that, brilliant save by Saunders.

27′: Entertaining stuff. Seattle definitely seeing more of the ball now.

25′: Yellow card to Birchall for a bad tackle. On Friberg’s service, it deflects to Alvaro, but his header is at Saunders.

24′: Zakuani expertly navigated the endline and lays off a perfect pass for White. He’s wide open but can’t pull the trigger! Nkufo anyone…?

20′: Montero fouled hard and the quick restart is ruined with a bad pass.

17′: Galaxy pushing forward quite a bit. Beckham and Donovan very much involved in the attack.

12′: Forgot to hit publish on the thread. Apologies. Flaco had some space on the right, but his cross was too close to Saunders.

10′: Magee is offside on a dangerous chance, but Keller still made the save.

9′: SAVE! Montero with a knuckling shot from 35-some yards that Saunders manages to get a paw on. Great strike.

5′: First Beckham free kick cleared by Riley. Donovan down after he and Keller go after a ball in the air. Keller appears to have won on all accounts there.

3′: ECS with a nice tifo before kickoff. Had a tribute to Japan earlier. Classy.

1′: And we’re off!

Pregame: Looks like kickoff will be more like 7 p.m.

Donovan and Beckham get the biggest boos during the lineup announcements. Juninho in third.

Pregame: Lots of news before kickoff tonight, so I’ll have to combine the lineup post and game thread into one.
