Sounders FC training Thursday at Starfire — photo reel

A bit late, but I’ll try to make it somewhat worthwhile. Training was closed to the media again until the final few minutes. Most of the guys were working on some generic drills, stretching or relaxing at the end.

Interestingly enough, when we were allowed in, Fredy Montero was serving in crosses from the right side in a drill instead of finishing in the middle. Probably not something to read into too much, but you never know. Montero later worked on some free-kick taking with Erik Friberg and Mauro Rosales.

At the end, some of the young guys did some rapid-fire finishing with Josh Ford in goal. There were a few good strikes and some saves as well. It was hard to judge how active the injured guys were during the session, but coach Sigi Schmid made it sound like Nate Jaqua, Steve Zakuani and Brad Evans were able to get through the whole week. And, yes, trialist Gregory Richardson was still around. Camp attendance looked complete from what I was able to gather.

* * *

1. The group does stretching. I can only imagine the amount of black turf bits that make it to the locker room everyday.

2. Erik Friberg was also serving in crosses from the right.

3. Here Montero and folk work on free kicks. Ryan Herman, from the academy, in goal.

4. Remember the wonder goal James Riley scored against Houston last year?

5. Lamar Neagle works on finishing. He strikes a pretty good ball.

6. Josh Ford here with the diving save. He’s always good for a big stop or two in drills.

7. Gregory Richardson, the trialist, wasn’t super sharp in the finishing work Thursday. That isn’t to say he didn’t have a strong day earlier. Couldn’t tell you.
