FINAL: Sounders FC 2, Chicago Fire 1. A deserved win. A long-awaited win. Seattle players, coaches and fans breathe a sigh of relief…

90+3′: Friberg stays down after a hard foul. Now the Uruguayans are opposed to that style of play…

90+1′: Orr Barouch in for Nyarko, who has to be helped off the field. Expect to see some more time added.

90′: Three minutes of stoppage time.

87′: Oduro makes the most of some contact with Leo, earns the free kick to the crowd’s chagrin. Pappa’s free kick is blocked by Ozzie’s face.

86′: Jaqua puts Carrasco through on the right, but the rookie’s shot is wide.

83′: Oduro on for Segares.

81′: Friberg to the left. Zakuani up top. Carrasco to the right.

79′: Looks like Carrasco is coming in to help kill this one off. White removed.

75′: Zakuani turns Pause like a top after being set up by Jaqua. The shot goes just wide however.

69′: Keller another punch save on a corner kick. Man of the match?

68′: Qwest Field attendance: 36,223

66′: Another big save from Keller. Not as strong as the other two, but Pappa nearly blocked a Parke clearance into the net.

64′: Nate Jaqua on for Mauro Rosales.

61′: SAVE! Keller again! Puerari got past the Seattle backline on the breakaway, but the team captain slides to stop him. Fans chant KA-SEY KE-LLER!

60′: On the other end Alonso fires a shot from distance that Johnson saves for a corner kick. It’s over everyone and out for a corner kick.

59′: SAVE! Deflected free kick falls to Chaves for an open shot, but Kasey Keller. makes a brilliant one-handed save to keep Seattle in the lead.

57′: Puerari with a good run, but his shot is blocked. He then earns a foul from 25 yards out. Crowd doesn’t like how easily the Uruguayans forwards go to ground.

52′: Shot from Videira off Jeff Parke’s face. He’s down and needs treatment. Hard shot. Ball bounced halfway up the field.

51′: Two Seattle defenders on yellow cards, Riley and Hurtado. Look out for them.

46′: We’re underway in the second half. No subs for either team.

Halftime: Sounders FC 2, Chicago Fire 1. Seattle halfway to earning that elusive first win. No reason it shouldn’t, in my opinion, judged on how the first half played.

45′: Two minutes added time. Hurtado booked a minute in.

41′: And 16 minutes after the goal, Seattle now has held the lead longer than it has in its three others this season (15′, 10′, 1′ respectively).

39′: Bad turnover from Ozzie 20 yards from his own goal, but Nyarko blows the chance.

37′: The first corner kick earns another, but Parke’s snap header on the ensuing cross is right at Johnson.

36′: Extra ball on the pitch. Meanwhile Seattle a foul in a dangerous position. Rosales cross is cleared. Friberg then with a cross, headed back by Evans into the mix but it’s out for a corner kick.

32′: Riley booked for a challenge on Pappa. Probably had that coming.

30′: The Sounders haven’t held a lead for longer than 15 minutes this season. Can they this time?

28′: Evans down. Able to get to his feet and walk to the sideline. Then jogs back out.

25′: GOAL SEATTLE! Zakuani takes a pass from White and burns past his defender on the left. Runs into the penalty box and finishes calmly past Johnson. 2-1 Sounders FC.

24′: MISS! Erik Friberg with an open net but his right-footed volley goes over the crossbar. Wow. Rosales battled for a header off a Leo cross to get goalkeeper Sean Johnson out of position.

21′: Chaves stays down after a clean tackle. Forces the ref to stop the play. Crowd doesn’t like it.

19′: First corner kick to Seattle. Friberg takes and Evans nearly with an open header on the near post. After another cross, Sounders FC will take another from the corner. Comes out to Rosales, but his cross is cleared.

17′: Physical game. Up-and-down game. There are certainly some more goals out there today.

14′: Seattle’s first clean sheet will have to wait another week at least…

12′: Zakuani tries to draw a foul at the edge of the box but the ref wags the finger.

8′: GOAL CHICAGO. Fire hit right back on a goal from Diego Chaves, who calmly finished a pass from Patrick Nyarko in front of the net. 1-1 now.

7′: GOAL SEATTLE! Rosales with the ball on the right side, swings in a cross to White who powers the header past Johnson. 1-0 Sounders FC.

3′: Despite how the lineup was listed, Seattle looks to be playing a 4-4-2 with White up top and Rosales underneath.

1′: And we’re off!

Pregame: Moments from kickoff now. Seattle in the green-blue-green combo. Chicago in all red.

Pregame: Introductions have come and gone. Here’s the walkout as the sun breaks through the clouds.

Pregame: Sigi Schmid is not in a suit today, in case you were wondering.

Pregame: Chicago also in a 4-3-3, with Nyarko-Puerari-Chaves up front.

Pregame: The Sounders FC lineup card looked a bit interesting today as it appears coach Sigi Schmid will unveil a 4-3-3 formation with Zakuani-White-Friberg up top and Rosales-Evans-Alonso in midfield. We’ll see how it plays.

Also, Jhon Kennedy Hurtado is back in the starting lineup in place of Patrick Ianni.
