Sounders FC training Tuesday at Starfire — play ball!

bradevans1.jpg

It was a fun scene out at Starfire today as Sounders FC split up into two groups to play a pick-up game of softball. I believe Tom Dutra (team blue) and Ezra Hendrickson (team orange) were the coaches.

Kasey Keller (1-0) pitched for the blue side, also hitting a winning 3-run home run in a 11-9 victory. Zach Scott (0-1) took the loss for the orange. I’m sure I didn’t get all the home runs, but here are most of ’em: Boss (2), Graham (2), Jaqua, Alonso, Ford, Evans, Keller, Scott.

Osvaldo Alonso was a superstar out there. He had an early error, but turned a nice double-play and robbed Brad Evans with a diving catch at shortstop. Taylor Graham was most impressive with the bat, taking Keller deep twice with one hand due to injury. Those that weren’t impressive? Well, let’s just say the list includes Leo Gonzalez (who inexplicably had two gloves on in the outfield), O’Brian White (got confused with the fair/foul line in right field), Erik Friberg/Steve Zakuani/Mike Fucito (throwing issues).

At one point Jhon Kennedy Hurtado got a yellow card for arguing with the ump. It was all in good fun though. Check out some photos after the jump:

1. Here’s the celebration scene after Graham’s first home-run.

2. He was mobbed at home plate, of course.

3. Longtime Seahawks/Sounders photographer Corky Trewin was the umpire.

4. O’Brian White was learning the ropes out in right field.

5. Montero, with the cast, played first base. Could’ve practiced as a neutral on a normal day.

6. Keller tried to sneak a fast ball by Graham the next time. The result? Another homer.

7. Sounders FC’s captain got the last laugh, seen here after hitting the go-ahead homer.

8. The guys posed for a group shot at the end.

9. And, of course, it was back to soccer after that…
