It’s official: Union-Sounders match to Oct. 8 due to friendly

Philadelphia Union Logo.jpgUPDATE 9:53 a.m. — It’s now official, according to this news release from the team. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

UPDATE 12:17 a.m. — According to this Philadelphia Daily News report the friendly is a done deal. It also states the Sounders FC-Philadelphia match at Qwest Field has been moved to Oct. 8

I saw this report over at Philly.com, where it sounds like the Union might be trying to schedule a July 23 friendly against Real Madrid.

Why is that relevant to us?

Well Peter Nowak‘s side is scheduled to play Sounders FC at Qwest Field that day. Certainly that would be a big get for Philadelphia, and the league would like to see it too, I’m sure. But that would force a reschedule for Seattle, which is already expected to have a packed-to-the-brim schedule later in the year.

What do you think about a potential reschedule to accommodate an opponent’s friendly? Do you think the Sounders should expect to get something in return? What would be fair?
