Carrasco’s wonder goal leads reserves to 2-0 win in Portland

carrasco mug.jpgHere is the box score from Sounders FC’s 2-0 Reserve League win Monday against Portland at JELD-WEN Field. Seattle boasted a slim 9-8 advantage in shots and improved to 4-0-0; the Timbers are 1-2-0.

Rookie midfielder Servando Carrasco (right) scored the opening goal in the 77th minute with a 30-yard free kick, a strike that by all accounts was nothing short of spectacular. Here’s the description from the Portland press release: “Carrasco hammered a shot over the Timbers’ four-man wall and into the top right corner.” David Estrada, a second-half substitute, sealed the win in the end, collecting a long ball from Leo Gonzalez and circling goalkeeper Adin Brown en route to the finish.

Attendance was 3,393 fans, an incredible turnout.
