FINAL: Sounders FC 2, Vancouver Whitecaps 2, game thread

Postgame notes on the Twitter feed. I apologize I wasn’t able to provide minute-to-minute updates, and I wish I could’ve, but I have to have my game story written right at the final whistle.

* * *

FINAL: Sounders FC 2, Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2. Surely one of the craziest games in this 37-year rivalry. Three goals after the 80′ mark. More to come.

90′: Writing duties taking over. Duckett on for Salinas.

83′: Friberg on for Rosales. The sub was orginally for Riley, but it wasn’t needed after

81′: GOAL SEATTLE! It’s Mauro Rosales with the equalizer! Second ball on a Wahl cross came to him at the far post after Jaqua battled for it in the air. It’s tied 1-1.

76′: More chances for Seattle, first on a Wahl free kick, then Jaqua nearly finds Hurtado in front of the net. Still 1-0 Vancouver.

57′: Montero with an open look, but it’s blocked out by a hand. Free kick coming. Blocked out for a corner kick. Jaqua will come in soon. Hurtado nods it wide.

Jaqua on for Neagle, officially the 59th minute.

55′: Camilo booked for taking over Riley near midfield.

51′: Alonso and Hassli each need treatment. Both and back on.

46′: We’re off in the second half. No changes, but it looks like Evans is more central. Rosales more to the right.

Halftime: Here are some stats. Shots–SEA 7-6. Shots on goal–VAN 3-2. Fouls–5-5. Offsides–SEA 1-0. Corner kicks: SEA 2-1. Saves–2-2.

Halftime. Sounders FC 0, Vancouver Whitecaps 1. Visitors with a stunning lead here at Qwest Field behind a Hassli PK.

45+1′: Rochat booked for a hard foul on Rosales. Wahl’s cross is cleared.

45′: Rosales but Fucito in on goal, but he’s pressured a little, and pushes a shot just wide! Very close…

43′: Seattle continues to attack, but the pressure is only going to grow.

39′: Another shot for Montero, but the driven effort is right at Cannon.

38′: Great buildup from Rosales and Evans leads to Montero shot, but he whistles it just over the goal.

37′: Leathers with a run and shot, but Keller blocks it. Alonso nearly springs Fucito the other way, but the long ball is gathered by Cannon.

33′: Couple crosses from Rosales and one by Wahl, but neither threaten Cannon’s goal much.

29′: GOAL VANCOUVER. Eric Hassli takes the penalty kick after Alonso trips Camilo in the box. The big Frenchman finishes calmly for his fifth goal of the season. Whitecaps up 1-0.

27′: Koffie down and getting treatment.

24′: Neagle’s cross from the left just over the pack in the middle.

20′: Seattle earns a corner kick, but Cannon punches it out, then Alonso fires on the second chance and Cannon tips it over the bar! What a shot! What a save! Moments later Montero nearly finishes a cross to the far post. Sounders picking it up.

19′: Montero appears to be upended heading toward goal, but referee Mark Geiger plays on. Sounders can’t believe it.

16′: Neagle with a hopeful shot, but it’s wide. Moments later Fucito tries to keep a ball in on the sideline, but he’s unsuccessful.

14′: MISS! Shea Salinas gets a clean look on goal, Wahl tries to pressure him from behind and the shot goes just wide. Two great chances for the visitors there.

13′: SAVE! Camilo gets an open look, but Keller does well to push it wide.

12′: DeMerit climbs well to win a defensive header.

9′: Montero active early for the Sounders. More as a playmaker though, not a scorer.

6′: Seattle on the attack with a couple crosses in Evans’ direction.

3′: ECS with a tifo that reads: “What is best in life? To crush your enemy, see them driven before you and hear the lamentation of their supporters.” Here’s a picture.

2′: Early free kick for Vancouver, hit right to Keller.

1′: And we’re off!

Pregame: Here’s the walkout. Seattle in green-blue-green, a familiar look at home. Whitecaps in, well, all white.

Pregame: Vancouver’s away section is starting to fill in. Here’s my tweet from earlier. Looks like we might have another tifo in the south end.

Pregame: Be sure to check out the lineups below if you haven’t already. Fredy Montero is back as a starter in place of Nate Jaqua. Lamar Neagle also starting, making this the 14th different lineup in 16 games for Seattle.

Pat Noonan and Miguel Montano are making rare appearances on the bench. Peter Vagenas is a notable reserve for Vancouver.
