FINAL: Sounders FC 4, New York Red Bulls 2, game thread

FINAL. Sounders FC 4, New York Red Bulls 2. Roger Levesque is the hero, coming off the bench to score two second-half goals.

89′: Not much longer in this one. Three minutes of stoppage time.

81′: Jaqua on for Montero.

78′: GOAL SEATTLE! Sutton with a shocker. Levesque dispossesses him in front of the goal and knocks in an empty-netter. Sounders up 4-2.

76′: Qwest Field attendance: 46,065 (largest for Sounders FC, largest in MLS since July 19, 2008 when L.A. played at New York at 46,754).

72′: Carrasco coming in for Fernandez.

67′: GOAL SEATTLE! It’s Roger Levesque. Heading in Gonzalez’s corner kick. Sounders up 3-2.

67′: SAVE! Alonso with some space on the right, fires a shot, but Sutton saves it out for a corner kick.

65′: Looked like Ballouchy won a corner kick, but his header is right to Keller.

58′: GOAL NEW YORK. Solli with a good run down the right, his cross takes a wicked deflection of Zach Scott into the upper 90. Wow. Two-goal lead is gone. It’s 2-2.

54′: Rosales rises to win a Fernandez cross, but the header is wide.

52′: Lindpere taken down. Yellow card to Riley, but it looked like Friberg deserved it.

50′: Yellow card to Da Luz for taking out Alonso.

49′: Fucito wins a header, but it’s over the bar.

46′: And we’re off in the second half. No subs.

Halftime: I continue to have internet issues up here. I blame CenturyLink. Here are some stats. Shots: NY 7-5. Shots on goal: 2-2. Fouls: 4-4. Offsides: 2-2. Corner kicks: SEA 3-2. Saves: SEA 1-0.

Halftime: Sounders FC 2, New York 1. Great start for Seattle, but the Red Bulls made a game of it behind Dane Richards’ goal.

45′: One minute of added time.

40′: Danger on a corner kick, but Tainio fires a shot into the side netting.

39′: Fernandez, set up by Fucito, hits a cheeky chip. Sutton is off his line, but the shot is over the goal.

36′: Pretty soft foul call there on Parke. De Rosario fires a driven free kick right at Keller. Lot of pace on that one.

31′ GOAL NEW YORK! Deflected shot by Dane Richards sails over Keller to get one back for the Red Bulls. Keller might’ve got a piece of it, but Seattle’s lead is down to 2-1.

28′: Yellow card to Tainio.

24′: Apologies if the live thread looks crazy. Internet has been kicking in and out.

22′: That goals that started off corner kicks. SSFC fans have been waiting for that.

17′: Alonso with another good run. Misplays a pass to Rosales to ruin the danger though. What a start here.

12′: GOAL SEATTLE! Header in the New York box falls to the feet of Osvaldo Alonso, who hammers the volley in. Might’ve been deflected. Sounders up 2-0.

11′: GOAL SEATTLE! Friberg curls in a shot from just outside the penalty box to give the Sounders a 1-0 lead.

9′: Best chance of the game comes to De Rosario, but he skies a wide-open chance. Bad, bad miss there.

7′: Fucito makes a good run. His cross is blocked by Keel for a corner kick. Sutton has trouble handling it, but eventually grabs it. New York might’ve been expecting a foul there.

6′: Sounds like the ESPN2 broadcast is waiting for college baseball to end. No much to report so far.

5′: Montero offside.

4′: Linesman tries to call a foul after Montero is bumped challenging for a header, but Michael Kennedy plays on. Did he not see it?

1′: Gonzalez keeps Richards onside as he gets behind the defense. Eventual cross by De Rosario in front of goal, but no one’s there.

1′: And we’re off!

Pregame: The boom-boom-clap cheer started a bit early, but here’s the walkout. I wonder if the nasty traffic has led to some empty seats to start. Seattle in green-blue-green. Red Bulls in white-red-white.

Pregame: Brad Evans and Pat Noonan each taking this game in from the press box. Wouldn’t be surprised to see both start Sunday.

Pregame: Almost all of the stadium is open tonight. It won’t be full, but I can’t wait to hear what the final attendance is.

Pregame: Lineups are up with four changes from last week. Zach Scott earns the start at center back over Patrick Ianni (filling in for the suspended Jhon Kennedy Hurtado). Alvaro Fernandez and Erik Friberg also starting in place of Lamar Neagle and the resting Brad Evans.
