O’Brian White: “I feel good. I’m fully back in practice now”

white mug.jpgAbout two months after a blood clot was surgically removed from his left leg, O’Brian White was a full participant in Sounders FC practice Wednesday. I got a chance to catch up with the Jamaican forward briefly after the workout:

* * *

(How do you feel? Were you training in full today?) “Yeah, I feel good. I’m fully back in practice now. I’m a little bit tired since I’m doing two-a-days now. My legs are a little tired and I have another session after this. I’m going to shower, get some lunch and then get back at it again.”

(So is getting back in shape your biggest restraint now or are there still some physical limitations?) “No, no. It’s just a matter of getting back fit. I think I’m in a good spot right now with my fitness. I’ve been doing a lot, but after doing so much work your body gets tired. I have to make sure I rest and recuperate. Today I’ll push, take Thursday off to recuperate and get back at it Friday.”

(Have you been in touch with the doctors? Is everything going OK medically? No setbacks?) “Everything is going good so far. I spoke with the doctor yesterday and things are going good. I’ll probably officially see him again before I start playing, but so far everything is good. I feel no pain at all. I’m feeling good. Just a bit tired.”

(Are you able to stay patient now that you’re so close?) “Yeah, I still just look at it like when I’m ready I’ll come back in. I don’t want to come back in and struggle. I’d rather do the work now, but some fitness back and get it back all the way once I start playing.”
