It’s official: Pat Noonan signs extension with Sounders FC

noonan mug.jpgIt shouldn’t come as any surprise at this point, but Pat Noonan has signed a contract extension with Sounders FC through the remainder of the season. Per league and club policy, terms were not disclosed.

Noonan, 30, played his first league game of the season Sunday as a second-half substitute against New England. A nine-year MLS veteran, he has 41 goals and 33 assists in 165 career appearances.

“I’m pleased that we could work out an agreement that’s beneficial to both Pat and the club,” said head coach Sigi Schmid in a news release. “Pat has vision and intelligence that strengthens the team when he’s on the field, and now that he’s healthy we feel he can help us during the second half of the season.”

Noonan underwent hip surgery during the offseason but has recently been training and playing without restriction.
