The U.S. women’s national team got some great goals from Heather O’Reilly, Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd to beat Colombia 3-0 in its second group-stage game. The USWNT (2-0) faces Sweden (2-0) on Wednesday to determine who wins Group C.

Both teams have already secured advancement, but winning the group would be crucial as it would likely mean avoiding Brazil in the quarterfinals.

Hope Solo, a former UW star goalkeeper from Richland, made four saves to earn her second-straight shutout. Here’s a good note from the U.S. Soccer release:

“Solo broke her personal record for consecutive minutes without surrendering a goal (781) in her eighth straight shutout in all competitions, and her streak of 478 shutout minutes at the Women’s World Cup is second all-time to Nadine Angerer of Germany (622). With the start, she tied Mary Harvey for second most games ever played by a U.S. goalkeeper in a Women’s World Cup.”

The U.S. had a 27-12 advantage to shots and improved to 15-0-2 all-time in group play.
